At North Yorkshire Register Office we hold records of all births, deaths, marriages and civil partnerships that occurred in this district since records began in 1837. We can only issue certificate for events that took place within our District – this link  may help you to locate the correct District.

Did the event happen in North Yorkshire – Please note records of events that took place in the following Districts are not held by North Yorkshire so you will need to apply to the relevant Register Office for any copy certificates:

AIREDALE              LEEDS              MIDDLESBROUGH        YORK

We cannot issue any certificates for weddings that took place in a Church until after the Document has been received from the Clergy and has been processed on the digital system, this includes any priority requests.

Please supply us with as much information as possible. Register office staff cannot undertake protracted searches through records.

The certificate will be posted to you.

Priority Cases: please note that we charge £38.50 per entry for this service. Your certificate(s) will be dispatched on the next working day from receipt of your application, if we receive it before 4pm. We will send your certificate(s) to you using 1st Class postage.

Once the certificate has been sent from our office,  it is the responsibility of Royal Mail to meet their published delivery targets.
